Warm air · hands-free · for the bathroom

Dry off after your shower — standing tall, on your own. Every year, about 235,000 people are hurt in the bathroom. Reaching to dry your feet shouldn't be one of them. Step out of the shower into a warm breeze — head to toe. Warm air dries you completely — hands-free.

Welyna is a gentle warm-air body dryer that stands by your shower and plugs into a normal outlet. Sit or stand, press once, and dry head to toe — no bending, no twisting, no waiting for someone to help. The riskiest moment in the bathroom is drying off — bending and reaching on a wet floor. Welyna dries you with warm air while you stay steady, sitting or standing. No cold scramble for a towel, no damp chill. Welyna wraps you in gentle warm air that stays warm against your skin — comfortable all the way dry. It plugs into a normal outlet, turns on with one touch, and dries your whole body with warm, moving air — sitting or standing. You can finally put the towel down.

The problem → the relief

The hardest part of a shower is everything after it.

After — warm air does the reaching. Hands-free, warm, on his own.

Getting dry, without the gymnastics.

What Welyna gets right

Built for the moment a towel makes hard.

Warm, moving air dries every part of you while you stay upright and supported — the opposite of folding over a wet floor.

01

Hands-free, head to toe

Warm, moving air dries your back, your feet, behind the knees — the places a towel makes you twist and bend to reach.

02

Stay standing, stay steady

No leaning on a wet edge, no reaching for a dropped towel. You stay upright and supported the whole time.

03

Gentle warmth, not a blast

Warm air tuned to feel like a soft breeze — not the roar of a hand dryer. Kind to thin, sensitive, or healing skin.

04

No electrician, no remodel

Plugs into a normal bathroom outlet and stands by your shower — sealed against moisture and simple enough to use with one button, for you or someone you care for.

The technology

It's not a heater. It's a precision dryer.

It's the difference between a Dyson and an ordinary hair dryer. A space heater just warms the air around you — slowly, drifting, going nowhere. Welyna's high-speed motor and precise temperature control push a fast, focused stream of warm-but-never-hot air across your whole body, actively lifting the water off your skin.

~90s engineered to dry
you head to toe
  • High-speed motor — drives air fast enough to lift the water off your skin, not the still, drifting warmth of a heater.
  • Precise temperature — warm exactly where it meets you; never a cold blast, never scalding.
  • Dries — doesn't just warm — a heater warms the room and leaves you damp; Welyna is built to get you dry, fast.

However you shower

Sit or stand. Always comfortable.

Warm air reaches every part of you — whether you dry off seated on a shower chair or standing.

How it works

Three steps. No towel gymnastics.

Step in, press once, and warm air dries you all over while you stand naturally.

Keeps clean

The panel lifts off and washes clean.

A body dryer lives in a damp room — so the part the air flows through has to stay hygienic. Welyna's soft front panel pops off in seconds and rinses clean in the sink, so stray hair, lint, dust, and bathroom damp never build up.

No hidden surfaces you can't reach, nothing to trap grime. Wash it, let it dry, click it back on.

Year-round

Not just for after the shower.

It's a warm-air machine at heart — so when winter comes, the same Welyna doubles as a gentle room warmer. Take the chill off the bathroom before you step in, or warm the corner of a room where you sit. It earns its place all year — not a gadget that gathers dust. Overheat protection and auto shut-off are built in.

Fits your space

A slim, gentle column — about door height.

75 inches tall on a compact 13-inch base. It stands quietly beside your shower, taking up about the footprint of a laundry basket.

Francisco Wang, founder of Welyna, at Rutgers University
From the founder

I'm building this for my dad.

I live in New Jersey, where the winters are brutal. The shower itself is hot and wonderful — and then you step out, and drying off in the cold is the part nobody enjoys. The towel never really warms you, and the same towel hanging in a damp bathroom all week never feels truly clean. I'd grumble about it every cold morning.

But the real reason I'm building Welyna is my dad.

In the winter of 2025, I brought my parents over from China. They're getting older — their knees are bad now, and stairs and long walks are hard. My father especially: he walks slowly, and gets out of breath. They worked their whole lives and raised three sons. My two older brothers are still in China; I studied my way out, built a career, and immigrated here — and more than anything, I wanted to give them an easier life in America.

Then I noticed my dad had started avoiding showers — I'd have to nudge him. And every time, right at the end, he'd call for my mom before he'd come out. I didn't understand why, until she finally told me: bending down had become hard for him, drying himself off was exhausting, and he was afraid of the cold.

That hit me. I went looking for something that simply dries a person, gently, after a shower. There's one from Spain, Valiryo — but everyone says the same things: too expensive, and you need a licensed electrician to install it. The cheap stand-on-a-pad blowers? Slow and cold — easy for an older person to catch a chill.

So I decided to build it. I'm an electrical engineer — I spent years building train-control signaling systems (I even wrote the book on it), and I'm a senior researcher at Rutgers CAIT. My current startup builds automated microgreens growers — so I already work every day with precise heating, high-power airflow, and the food-grade supply chain to source it. The same technology that grows greens can dry a person, gently and warmly. I have what it takes to make this right.

I'm building the Welyna I want for my father. If you have a parent who needs this too — or you just dread that cold scramble after a shower — come build it with me.

Straight talk

What we won't claim.

We won't tell you Welyna "prevents falls" or call it a medical device. It's a comfort-and-independence aid — and we'll only say what we can stand behind.

Can I buy one today?
Not yet — we're validating demand before our first production run. Reserve early access now and founders get first units and founding pricing before anyone else.
Are these real photos?
Honestly, no — they're concept renders. The exact size and look aren't finalized. We'll share design options with the founders list and let you vote on what you'd actually want in your bathroom.
How much will it cost?
We're still working it out — that's part of why this list exists. We're exploring founding pricing in the $250–$600 range and using your feedback to get it right.
Do I need an electrician?
No — that's the point. Welyna is designed to plug into a standard bathroom (GFCI) outlet, stand beside your shower, and work out of the box. No rewiring, no 220V, no remodel — unlike most full-body dryers, which need an electrician.
Is it safe in a wet bathroom?
It's being designed for wet rooms — sealed against moisture and run from a GFCI-protected outlet. Full electrical-safety certification is in progress, and we'll publish it before we ship a single unit. We won't make safety claims until it's certified.
Will it stop me needing a carer?
For some people it may help with one specific task — drying off independently. We won't promise it replaces care or prevents falls. We're designing to reduce the bending and reaching linked to bathroom injuries, and we'll share any testing openly.
Will it just blow cold air, like some dryers?
That's the complaint we hear most about other body dryers — the air goes cold before it reaches you. Solving exactly that is our whole focus: warm air that's still warm where it meets your skin. We'll publish real temperature numbers from prototypes before we make claims.
Won't the warm air dry out my skin?
It's warm, not hot — gentle, moving air at a temperature you can adjust, designed to lift the water off your skin without the harsh heat of a hairdryer that bakes it dry. And because you step out warm, it's the perfect moment to put on lotion — warm skin drinks it in.
Is there a negative-ion / "fresh" mode?
Optionally, yes — a gentle negative-ion fresh mode for a clean-air feeling while you dry. It's designed to be ozone-free, and we make no skin or health claims about it — it simply makes the breeze feel fresher. The warmth, not the ions, is what dries you.
Does the fabric panel get dirty? Can I clean it?
Yes, and yes — by design. The soft front panel lifts off and washes clean, so stray hair, lint, dust, and bathroom damp never build up. A clean, hygienic surface matters, so we built it to come apart and wash — not to trap grime where you can't reach.
How is this different from a space heater?
A space heater warms the room — slow, diffuse heat. It won't dry you: stand in front of one wet and you'll still be damp and cold. Welyna is built to dry a person — directed, moving warm air that sweeps your whole body, head to toe, to lift the water off your skin. And just as important: ordinary heaters aren't safe to use wet or right beside a shower, while Welyna is designed and certified for the bathroom (sealed against moisture, on a GFCI outlet). It can take the chill off a room in winter too — but drying you, safely, by the shower, is what it's actually for.
Will it just gather dust between showers?
It shouldn't — it's a warm-air machine, so in winter it doubles as a gentle room warmer. Pre-warm the bathroom before a shower, or take the chill off a room you sit in. You'll reach for it year-round, not just after a wash.
How long does drying take?
We're engineering for around 90 seconds head to toe, with warmth you can adjust — fast because the motor and temperature control are built to dry, not to slowly warm a room. Real numbers will come from real prototypes, and we'll publish them honestly, even if they're not the prettiest.
